Amanda Baynes: retire or not retire after 'Easy A'

Despite having a certain susceptibility to teen movies — not that there’s anything wrong with a grown woman being able to quote most of Bring It On - I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this weekend’s Easy A. Emma Stone kills it as Olive, a high school student who traps herself in an extremely slutty lie, and as her potential romantic interest, Gossip Girl‘s Penn Badgley evokes the above-it-all cool of, well, Jesse Bradford in Bring It On. (Yes, I am aware that other movies exist.) Hooray, also, for Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as the weirdest, warmest movie parents in a long while. I walked out of the theater feeling like maybe, just maybe, the kidz are gonna be all right.
But we are gathered here today to discuss the strange case of Amanda Bynes, as Easy A marks her first major film appearance since Hairspray in 2007. (I’m not counting Sydney White, since apparently no one did at the time.) Playing a tightly-wound evangelical Christian goody-two-shoes on a rampage against Olive’s alleged behavior, she isn’t given much to do but shoot Jesus lasers from her eyes and blast aggravated steam from her ears,
but she slapped on a prissy headband and went for it anyway. Bynes has always exhibited less vanity than her fellow teen stars, a willingness to go for the punchline (even if she’s the punchline) that evades lesser comediennes. So I gotta ask: Amanda, what is up with all this retirement hoo-hah?

Easy A makes the grade at weekend box office

The weekend estimates are in, and Easy A looks to clean up nicely at the box office, coming in at #2 with a 3 day take of just over $18 million. This is a great open for a teen comedy, and it was budgeted at just $8 million. Factor in the generally positive reviews, and Easy A looks like a hit for all involved.
Popwatch blog posted a fantastic article in which they hope Amanda chooses to not retire. Amid the great reviews she's gotten from Easy A, (nearly all of them are positive), the blog author hopes Amanda sticks around because she shows more promise than other performers her age.

I hope [deleting her Twitter] doesn’t mean that she’s un-un-retired. I think that would be a shame.

Especially in this weekend of Yet Another Disappointing Headline Concerning Lindsay Lohan, I find myself respecting the way Bynes has conducted her transition from child star to young adult: no scandals, no arrests, no embarrassing boyfriend drama, just the one Maxim cover (on which she’s practically swaddled in fabric) and a very select smattering of well-played parts. I’m fairly certain she still lives with her parents, which I find adorable. And while it is her right to decide what to do with her own future — especially after nearly two decades of the Hollywood grind life on screen [better, readers? - WP] — I wish she wouldn’t give up on making people laugh. We’ve got waaaaay too many generic ingenues around here already.

To retire or not?

Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, Dan Byrd, Penn Badgley, Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Kudrow, Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson

Though the star of the show - and I mean that factually; she's the headline act! - ''Easy A'' credits actress Stone last – and no, it’s not because the talent are listed in alphabetical order and seemingly not because the top positions are reserved for the films heavyweights (Amanda Bynes? Please!).

Yep, there she is, the films star, listed last with one of those 'usually reserved for Samuel L.Jackson special appearance tags' "...and Emma Stone".

It shouldn't bother me where and when an actor is credited in a movie, and it usually wouldn't, but in this case one can't help but feel that Ms Stone deserves a little more love. Why? Because Stone, also impressive (though to lesser extent) in ''Superbad'' and ''Zombiebad'', is sublime – the screen loves her! It’s not the film’s dialogue you’ll be talking about going home, but the performance of it’s raven-haired leading lady!

Amanda Bynes Is the Latest Celeb to Quit Twitter

Amanda Bynes is following Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato's lead and calling it quits on Twitter. The Easy A star recently deleted her account without even bidding her fans farewell, reports Cambio.

But this isn't the first time the 24-year-old actress has thrown in the towel on something. In June, Amanda announced she was retiring from acting, but just one month later, she took it all back and said she was 'unretiring.' Of course, her professional return was announced on Twitter along with the trailer for her new movie.

Amanda Bynes' Twitter Account Deleted

Amanda Bynes' on-and-off relationship with Twitter appears to have reached a low point.

The Twitter account @chicky, which the actress famously used to overshare and rant about her personal and professional life, has been deleted.

Bynes, who has sent out childhood pics and declared her very specific taste in men on her Twitter page, famously tweeted her retirement from Hollywood in June.

"I don't love acting anymore, so I've stopped doing it," the starlet wrote at the time. "I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I've #retired."

Bynes' announcement came as a shock to her rep, who was blindsided by the news after speaking to her client days earlier and noting she "sounded great."
However, the actress had a change of heart and took to her Twitter page about a month later to reveal she was back on the scene, writing, "I've unretired."

This latest move could be related to a desire Bynes' once expressed about keeping a safe distance from the sometimes harsh glare of the spotlight.

"I don't want to have my face on everything. I just don't want to be some young brat who is everywhere," a then-18-year-old Bynes told MTV News in 2005. "It sickens me."

The young actress also copped to not always being on the same page as her Hollywood peers.

"I don't really relate to that many people who are my age, especially in this business."

Fans may not be getting updates about her fluctuating retirement status anymore, but moviegoers will be able to catch Bynes in the upcoming flick "Easy A." The actress plays a judgmental teen out to ruin the life of a faux good-time girl in the high school comedy, which hits theaters September 17.

How long do you think Amanda Bynes will remain retired from Twitter, PopWatchers?

This sure has been an interesting summer to follow Amanda Bynes’ Twitter feed. In June, she announced her retirement from acting on her beloved Twitter account, and in July, she simply announced that she “unretired” from acting on her Twitter. In the few weeks in between, Amanda tweeted around the clock, making all her faithful followers believe that while she no longer loved acting enough to do it full-time, she certainly loved Twitter enough to pursue that full-time instead. It certainly was the summer of love for Amanda Bynes and her Twitter (cue Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson singing “Summer Lovin’” right about now).

Amanda Bynes deletes Twitter?! Say it isn't so!

Amanda-BynesImage Credit: Valarie Jean/Getty ImagesThis sure has been an interesting summer to follow Amanda Bynes’ Twitter feed.

So imagine my shock to see that Amanda deleted her @chicky Twitter account completely out of nowhere and without any fanfare. At least when Miley Cyrus retired from Twitter, she explained her reasoning to soften the blow a little. Where else will we learn the sordid details of her maybe-sorta relationship with Kid Cudi? Or follow the breaking news of her retirement-turned-unretirement-turned Easy A plug? Or read really awkward words of “wisdom”? I guess with tweeting out of her life, Amanda can focus all her energies on her acting, rather than finding the perfect emoticon to end all her tweets. I can only hope that this Twitter retirement provides ample time for her to film a sequel to Sydney White. And, much like her retirement from acting, I hope that this is similarly brief.

So while we can no longer mine Amanda’s Twitter archives for her pearls of wisdom and TMI overshares, we can still remember the good old days by watching this video of real New Yorkers reading some of her more head-scratching tweets.

Amanda Bynes no longer on Twitter

HollywoodNews.com: Amanda Bynes has been pretty vocal on Twitter and even announced her retirement from acting on it, along with her return to acting, but now she may be done with the social networking site.

Bynes’ Twitter appears to have been deleted, reports Hollywood Life. However, since she retired and un-retired in about a month, many are not taking this seriously.
Bynes will next be seen in the film Easy A.

Amanda Bynes Retires from Twitter

Amanda Bynes, one of the more entertaining celebrity Twitter users out there, has apparently decided to throw in the towel.

The 24-year-old former actress, who announced her retirement from acting via Twitter earlier this year, was an avid user of the microblogging service. However, this morning her account (@chicky) had been deleted with no explanation.
She'd courted controversy at times when using the service, such as when she posted: "it's amaziing how good it feels when someone knows how to love your body! I am having withdrawals from a certain guy lol :) So turns out i prefer chocolate over vanilla. interesting."

For those in mourning, you can relive some of Bynes greatest moments on Twitter via this video of average New Yorkers reading some of her Tweets out loud.

Tight Dress Battle: Aly Michalka, Katy Perry & Amanda Bynes

Tight revealing dresses: nothing gets one's attention more than a woman who can fill one out properly. Besides, it's good for business.

For months Katy Perry has been wearing a series of tight latex outfits leading up to the release of her new album "Teenage Dream," which is currently at #1 on Billboard. Yes, she has talent as a singer/songwriter, but she also realizes what else gets attention.
With that in mind, we've decided to do a little poll here at Starpulse with three ladies that first came to mind. Aly Michalka, Katy Perry, Amanda Bynes are all stunning, but who do you think wears a tight dress best?

Shirtless Penn Badgley Scores An Easy A

Penn Badgley goes shirtless while poolside with Emma Stone in this new still from their new comedy Easy A, out September 17th.

Synopsis: After a little white lie about losing her virginity gets out, a clean cut high school girl (Stone) sees her life paralleling Hester Prynne’s in “The Scarlet Letter,” which she is currently studying in school – until she decides to use the rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.
The flick also stars Amanda Bynes, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Aly Michalka, Fred Armisen, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci, and Thomas Haden Church.

FYI: Emma is on the September 2010 cover of Asos Magazine.

Amanda Bynes Quits Twitter

Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes from the hit shows “All That” and “The Amanda Show” has deleted her Twitter account. The last we reported Amanda had taken to Twitter to let her fans know that she would no longer be acting, only to Tweet a week later that she un-retired.

Deep Thoughts By Amanda Bynes

People of New York City were asked to do readings from Amanda Bynes' totally wacky and crazy Twitter and you won't believe some of their responses!
Some of Amanda's words of wisdom include "I like black men. Very attracted to them. Just FYI" and "I'm a #diva and a diva is a female version of a hustler. Everybody knows that thanks to Beyonce who is amazing."

Amanda Bynes to create animal circus show in Las Vegas?

“It’s Viva Las Vegas for Amanda Bynes,” reads the headline of a National Enquirer story, which, in all earnestness, goes on to claim that she’s “running away to join the circus!”

The tab reports that Bynes, who recently announced her retirement from acting, “is planning an animal-themed show in Las Vegas.”

Yes, you read that right.

According to a so-called “pal” quoted in the article, “Amanda loves animals… and she’s looking into doing a circus-type animal show in Vegas while her name is still hot.”

Really?
No.

A rep for Bynes called the report “hilarious,” and a source close to the former “All That” star tells Gossip Cop there isn’t a shred of truth to it.

Once again, the only clowns here are the ones at the Enquirer.

Amanda Bynes Retires at 24

Who can watch any of Amanda’s movies or series and not fall in love with her, the 24 year old actress is lively, cute and full of life. Although her movies didn’t grant her any “Oscars” they were quite hilarious and enjoyable. Who could forget her amazing performance in ‘she’s the man’? I personally couldn’t stop laughing throughout.

However, the beautiful actress who was still at the beginning of a successful and promising career retired, Yes, you didn’t misread Amanda Bynes retired from acting at the age of 24.
Amanda announced this shocking news on twitter at three AM to all her followers saying that she decided to retire from her acting career because she no longer enjoys it like she once did.

Whether Amanda wants to pursue acting or not, is her decision to make and she should choose whatever makes her comfortable. However, many might feel that her decision to retire was hasty and soon Amanda will regret it. What do you think about Amanda’s decision to retire?

The former Disney star posted to Twitter: "it's amaziing how good it feels when someone knows how to love your body! I am having withdrawals from a certain guy lol :)" She then posted: "So turns out i prefer chocolate over vanilla. interesting."
When some took offense to her racial profiling, she replied:"FYI if any girls are mad that i like 'chocolate' they need to seriously get OVER it. sorry, you can't have all the chocolate for yourself.'

Christina Applegate And Alyssa Milano To Star With Amanda Bynes In Comedy 'Hall Pass'

They both played TV teenagers in the 90s, but it took a couple decades for actresses Christina Applegate and Alyssa Milano to earn a "Hall Pass." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the lovely ladies have been cast in the Farrelly brothers comedy alongside already announced stars Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Jenna Fischer and Amanda Bynes.

The flick "centers on what happens when two husbands are given permission to go outside their marriages for guilt-free romantic liaisons for one week." Click images to read stories
With a growing gang of famous faces, the flick seems to be shaping up to be the raunchy step-cousin to Garry Marshall's sweet-as-pie "Valentine's Day" (though we somehow doubt the actors' mugs will be combined into the shape of a heart for the "Hall Pass" poster).
We're not sure which characters Christina and Alyssa will play, but it's likely at least one, if not both, will be married to the husbands mentioned, which leaves one burning question: Who in their right mind who want to step out on these gals? We're curious to see how this kooky premise turns out and if the wives get a little on-the-side lovin' of their own

Amanda Bynes Leaves The Farrellys’ Hall Pass

Last night Chase Whale alerted me to a tweet from actress Amanda Bynes, who explains that she won’t be appearing in The Farrelly Brothers‘ comedy Hall Pass after all.
Bynes tweeted:

"FYI I am NOT in Atlanta doing a cameo in Hall Pass like people think!! I was, but I left because of scheduling conflicts!!! It’s a huge cast and i was going to do a little part but it didn’t work out timing wise!! I have NO idea why people think I’m there filming!"

Amanda Bynes Joins Hall Pass

Amanda Bynes will star with Owen Wilson, Jenna Fischer and Jason Sudeikis in the latest Farrelly brothers comedy Hall Pass.
The story follows two married couples who find themselves going through the motions. To spice things up, the wives give their husbands a “hall pass” to engage in extracurricular affairs. Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly will direct from a screenplay they wrote with Kevin Barnett and Pete Jones.

Amanda Bynes Grabs Hall Pass

Amanda Bynes has boarded the Farrelly brothers' comedy Hall Pass, starring opposite Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Jenna Fischer, in the New Line project, according to Variety.
Written and directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, Hall Pass centers on a married couple (Owen Wilson and Jenna Fischer) in which the wife gives her husband a "hall pass," a free ticket to engage in extramarital encounters.

Amanda Bynes Prefers 'Chocolate' Men

Amanda Bynes has a new boyfriend who knows how to love her body right and she'd like us to know this has something to do with him being black.
"it's amaziing how good it feels when someone knows how to love your body! I am having withdrawals from a certain guy lol :)" she tweeted last week. "So turns out i prefer chocolate over vanilla. interesting."

Amanda Bynes is facing a lonely Valentine's Day this year

She's been dumped by her mystery lover just days before the romantic holiday. The "Hairspray" star has been regularly updating her Twitter.com page over the last few weeks to give hints about the new man in her life, revealing he is a musician in the public eye -- but refusing to disclose his name.
She sent gossips into a spin after posting a message that divulged that her lover had lost out at the recent Grammy Awards, prompting speculation she's been dating rapper Drake, an allegation she subsequently denied.

Amanda Bynes Shares Heartbreak Over Split From Secret Lover

Having revealed that her romantic relationship with the mystery man didn't work out, Amanda Bynes came out with a series of tweets about what she feels about the split. On Thursday, February 11, the "Hairspray" actress gave a hint that she was left heartbroken through her Twitter account.
"Love is like a puzzle," Bynes began her tweet. The "What I Like About You" actress furthermore explained what she meant by that, writing "When ur in love, all the pieces fit, when ur heart gets broken, it takes a while to get everything back together."

Bynes to Film Scene on Emory’s Eagle Row

Amanda Bynes will arrive on campus today to film a scene for “Hall Pass,” a comedy directed by Bobby and Peter Farrely to be released next year.
David McClurkin, filming liaison for Emory University and business development manager of marketing, said that Emory is one of 42 locations of filming in Georgia and that Emory alum JB Rogers (’86C) is working on the movie as first assistant director.

‘Hall Pass’ filming night scenes in Marietta, GA this week

This week, Hall Pass is filming overnight on Columns Drive in East Cobb, Marietta, GA at a residence on the Chatahootchee River. The call time for the shoot is 7 pm and they are rumored to still be looking for upscale cars and extras for the shoot.
Amanda Bynes, Jason Sudeikis, Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate and Alyssa Milano also star in the movie which is being directed by the Farrelly Brothers.

She Wants Kids After 30

Amanda Bynes is refusing to have children until she is in her thirties - because motherhood will take up all her time.
The 23-year-old Hairspray star, who has previously brushed off reports she's dating rappers Drake and Kid Cudi, is single after she was dumped last week (ends14Feb10) by a mystery man.

Amanda Bynes Tweets Her Love

Amanda Bynes has been getting a lot of flack because she likes Black men. Earlier today Amanda Bynes took to her twitter account to get some stuff off of her chest tweeting:
